Who we are
The Horns, Ashbourne is operated by Bates Dining Group Ltd, registered in England and Wales under company number 17336446. Our registered office is 8 Outrams Wharf, Little Eaton, Derby, England, DE21 5EL. You can contact us about privacy at info@thehornsashbourne.co.uk.
What information we use
If you email us, we receive your email address, any name you give us and the information you choose to include. Our website has no online booking or contact form at present.
When you visit the website, our hosting provider may handle technical information such as IP address, browser and request information to deliver and protect the website. Your browser can also store your Google Maps choice on your device.
Why we use it
We use messages to answer enquiries and make arrangements you request. We generally rely on our legitimate interests in responding to customers and running the business, or on taking steps you request before entering a contract where applicable. Technical information used to operate and secure our website is processed for our legitimate interests in keeping it available and secure. Information needed to meet a legal requirement is handled for that legal obligation.
We do not operate an online mailing-list signup, advertising tracker or website analytics service on this version of the site. We will review this notice before introducing any of those services.
Who may receive information
Our website is hosted through Cloudflare Pages, and we use Microsoft 365 to handle messages sent to our published email address. Those service providers may process information for us in running these services. We do not sell your personal information.
We load the embedded Google Map only with your consent, which you can withdraw using Cookie settings. If you choose to load it, your browser connects directly to Google. Google may receive your IP address and device or usage information and may use cookies or similar technology. Read Google's privacy policy for more information. Cloudflare and Microsoft may process some information outside the UK. Their published data protection terms describe safeguards for relevant international transfers. You can contact us for more information about the services we use.
How long we keep information
We keep customer correspondence for only as long as reasonably needed to deal with the enquiry, any follow-up, a dispute, or applicable record-keeping requirements. The period depends on the reason for the contact. We review and delete information when it is no longer needed.
Cookies and your map choice
This website does not currently use optional analytics or advertising cookies of its own. It saves a single preference in your browser's local storage named horns_map_choice_v1 to remember whether you accepted or rejected Google Maps. The saved choice expires after approximately six months. This preference is used only to remember your decision.
Google Maps is optional and off by default. Until you actively choose “Accept Google Maps” or “Display Google Map”, no embedded Google Map is loaded. If you decline, you can still read our address and use the separate directions link to leave the website for Google Maps if you wish.
You may change your choice at any time using Cookie settings at the bottom of any page. Turning the map off stops this website loading it again, but does not itself delete any Google cookies already stored in your browser. Those can be managed through your browser settings.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law gives you rights to access and correct personal information, ask for erasure or restricted use, object to certain processing and, in some cases, receive a copy of information. Contact info@thehornsashbourne.co.uk if you would like to exercise a right or have a concern. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Other websites and updates
Links to other websites, including Google Maps, are governed by their own privacy information. We will update this notice when our booking service, website services or data practices change.
